The Dawg House

Mays practice schedule for the Airport Diamond can be viewed here.

The 2012 season is now upon us and the boys are practicing outdoors at the Mudd Dawg field in preparation for the coming season.  Tournaments are now posted on Iowa’s USSSA site and our tournament schedule is set.

The Burlington Mudd Dawgs 3 are a 2012 13U Major USSSA travel tournament baseball team based in Burlington, Iowa on the banks of the mighty Mississippi in Southeast Iowa.

2011 brought to fruition one of the goals that was established when the team was formed as 10 year olds; win a State Championship, 2011 Iowa 12U AAA State Champs.  Adding an 8th. place finish in the 12U Open World Series (Gold Bracket) only validated the 2011 team as one of the best in the state in our classification.

Having been moved up in classification will create a huge challenge for the boys as we are in professional sports lingo, a small market team.  Most of the teams we will be competing against in the major division all come from larger communities with far more players to choose from in putting together their teams, but the boys are up for the challenge.

The Mudd Dawgs 3 play in locally sponsored USSSA tournaments and do extensive travel in Iowa and other surrounding states when possible.

The Mudd Dawgs 3 are always looking for the best competition possible in order to improve our young player’s skills and give them a chance to compete against some of the area’s best teams.

Our goals are always to improve and to be able to compete at the highest levels in Local, State and National tournaments and represent the Mudd Dawgs organization and Burlington as best we can.

We would like to extend a special thanks to all the parents, grandparents and sponsors who have supported the team from the beginning in helping us prepare our boys for the High School ranks and beyond.

Quote:  During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball.
